House Update!

Since we started our 2 week project of living in a hotel and re-doing all the floors in our house...it took 49 nights in hotel (7 weeks) and made us Hilton Diamond members! Success!

We changed out the light in our bedroom and did a few other minor updates.

We had already ordered our new table before the whole flooding ordeal.

During the flooding we had a tree fall.  When it rains-it pours.

The floors started going in!

Loving these!

Slowly able to get it feeling normal again

Our beautiful 200 year old oak tree was struck by lightning last year.  We had several arborists some out and they told us to give it a year to see if she would live.  She didn't.  So, we had to have this gorgeous beauty removed during floodgate 2019.

Leaving our hotel room 213!  This was home for 7 weeks!

I like to think I left something good behind at the hotel.  The housekeepers and staff would go outside to smoke out of this door.  They would prop it open with pieces of mulch and it would make me insane!  My family is living here!  So, I asked management several times to have them stop and this sign was put up.  Don't worry: no one listened to the sign.  My kids and I would remove each piece of mulch that propped open the doors.

Peace Out Homewood!  Every time I drive by one of these I have PTSD.

yippee!!  Starting to look normal

And here comes the tree.  They had to take the fence down and re-build it to get the tree out.

They rutted up our yard, of course.

This was sadder than when we had to give away Gloria (our dog).

New light that the kids and Neil gave me for mothers day!

I changed out the handles on all of the kitchen cabinets.

I changed out the curtain rod and got this new rug!  The books are on it to help it relax!
We got this new rug for our bedroom and those sweet Laura Park pillows to add in some color!
It is soooooo good to be home.  We love it so much!

House Facelift

I've been wanting to get our house painted since before we bought this house.  Like DAY 1.  Well there's way more that has to be done than something like painting the OUTSIDE of the house.  Such as a new A/C, back splash in kitchen, new oven when ours went out, etc.  No one sees our house unless they are invited over, so it's not that big of a deal.  But, I see it everyday and wanted to pull up to something that I like. :)

So out with the yellow brick and hunter green shutters!! ICK!

And in with the creamy white and greige shutters!  He built shutters, wrapped our brick post, and painted the front door.  I am not sold on the front door and may change that.

In process

The shutters he built and he added different horizontal slats to see what I like best.  I was 2 all the way!

Almost done!  Just needs the door painted and the flower beds done. oh, and a new roof, but that ain't happening!

So proud of my pots and the way we planted them!

Summer Storm

Who knew living in the "country" was so tough? ha! Not really, but I like to make Neil crazy when I say we live in the country.  We have lots of trees and neighbors with big trees and I consider that the country.  The kids and I were all sitting around at the house listening to the storm and watching the wind blow.  The umbrella in the patio table blew over so I called Neil to make sure he was OK.  He was fine and said he'd be home shortly.  Sister kept getting scared of the thunder and would look at me like "what on earth was that!?"  I guess she will be scared of weather like her mama.

Neil got home and looked at me funny and said "what have y'all been doing in here?"  Well, he had to create a new way to get in our gate because 3 trees were across our driveway!  No idea any of this was happening.  Anyway, we went and looked at all the damage and were thankful that no one was hurt.  We had neighbors with tress on their houses and on their fences.  We decided to walk about the back and another tree in our backyard was uprooted.  It took out the neighbor's fence, shed, and another tree.  Thank god for Homeowner's Insurance!

Backyard uprooted tree

ouch.

This branch just snapped and took out our neighbor' fence

It only took 6 city workers to stand around while 1 worked.

We had a tree crew over the next day cleaning up the uprooted tree.

Sweet Summertime

We've been soaking up the last few days of summer around here.  But, that also comes with dentist appointments, projects around the house, and other random fun.  This was the first time Henry has actually let the dentist look in his mouth.  Great job, Henry!  He even got his teeth cleaned!

Thanks, Ray!
We got our kitchen cabinets painted white!  Yay!  Now, I just need to get my back splash done.  :)

Birthday parties galore

Neil changed out the medieval hall lights to these sweet drum lights.  He is so handy, he can do anything.

Outdoor Movie Night

Before we moved into our new house I knew I wanted to have outdoor movie nights.  Thankfully, Jody has a 12 foot screen and projector so that we could have the movie night!  We are thinking about getting one, because it was just so much fun and we have the yard for it.  We even set it up to watch the Saints play and just for the boys to be able to watch a movie before bed.  Tons of fun was had by all 50 people that attended!!!

Last minute, I rented a popcorn machine.  I had to because people had changed their plans and decided to come.  We showed A Bug's Life and had bug themed pudding.  Easy Peasy.

I was literally shocked they the kids sat and watched the first 30 minutes of the movie!

Sister thought this was her bottle.

Caroline is such a gymnast!!
