Happy 6 Months Old!

I just cannot believe Bennett is half a year old today!  It seems like yesterday when he was born!  I can't imagine how I will be when he turns 1!  Here are some things that Bennett is doing these days:

-He still eats every 3 hours during the day.  I don't know if this will ever end because he LOVES to eat!

-Bennett is starting to eat his feet!  He is loving them.  I think it is funny and gross at the same time.

-Bennett is still waking up at night to have the pacifier put back in his mouth.  Will he ever sleep without it?

-He is really getting the cutest personality I have ever seen.  He laughs and smiles all the time.  

-He loves carrots.  He liked the carrots better than applesauce!

-He is pre-crawling.  If you put something in front of him-he will try really hard to get to it!  He goes backwards most times.

-We are in love with our little baby blessing!

Happy 6 Months to Bennett!

Back in School!

Well I started Grad School on Monday. I was really excited to get started on this new chapter in my life. I am taking 3 classes (9 hours) this summer. 1 online class and two 3-week sessions.

Bennett and I arrived the Bistro in Ruston on Monday. Aunt Rebecca and Bennett gave me flowers for my first day!

Aunt Rebecca and Uncle Andrew were so excited to see Bennett. I think Bennett was happy too!

Grand-Machine and Nana are always happy to see Bennett. Nana will be keeping Bennett Monday-Thursday while I am in class. They are having so much fun!

After lunch, I went to get my brand new Tech ID! They have my maiden name because they haven't changed my name in the system yet. I get my new "Lindsey S. Lewis" one next week!

I will have to say that I was a bit overwhelmed on Monday. The ride home from Ruston was tiring. Bennett cried for 30 solid minutes and it made me question whether or not I should go back to school! Tuesday and Wednesday were better and I feel like I have the hang of it now. I was talking to Carol today who is also in grad school, and we decided that we both can do it!!!

Laid Back Weekend

This weekend has been pretty laid back. We started it out on Friday night by giving Neil his Father's Day present early. He wanted a New Orleans Saints bowling ball! Yes, a bowling ball. And yes, a Saints one at that. We gave it to him early so that he could get the finger holes drilled before his Wednesday night bowling league! I had no idea that the balls didn't come pre-drilled! Needless to say, he loved it and can't wait to try it out.

On Saturday, we went at breakfast at the Broadmoor Kitchen with Lynsie, John, and Pops. Neil was participating in Paint Your Heart Out. After breakfast, we just came home and lounged around all day long. I always feel so lazy when we do that! We went to Connor's 2nd birthday party later that afternoon. It was fun to watch all of the kids play and eat cake. It was a farm animal theme. Carolyn had cute little hats for all the kids to wear but they were small and only fit Bennett! He was such a good sport and wore it for a while. He was totally intrigued by Gigi. He loved having her hold him.

Today, we went to Sunday school and we were the people to bring breakfast. I made a sour cream coffee cake. I like to make things that I have all the ingredients for at home. It was pretty easy and was pretty good too. This afternoon we went to see The Hangover while Gammy babysat. It was really funny and a little crude! It's the first movie we have gone to since Bennett was born. We had a great, relaxing, family-filled weekend.

Water Babies

I think Bennett is going to love swimming! We had Water Babies class at Red River Scuba on Thursday morning. We are taking this class each Thursday in June. It was sort of unorganized, but it was fun for the babies. Bennett loved splashing around and chewing on the diving rings. He was the youngest in the class and was one of the last ones still in the water towards the end of class. I took him out early due to shriveled fingers! I was glad that Casey (Mason's mommy) was there to take pictures for us!

Here is the social circle at Water Babies. I don't know if that is what it is called, but we call it "social circle" at Gymboree so there you go.

Here are 3 tired babies after class. Mason, Bennett, and Georgia. Bennett went right to sleep when we got in the car.

The only organized part of the class was "Wheels on the Bus" and "Ring Around the Rosey." Those were really fun and seemed to engage the babies. I am going to look online for some different ideas!

Show Us Where You Live-Office

We have come to the week of my most creative room. Maybe not creative room, but creative spot for the room!! Our Home Office. We used to have a whole room in our house dedicated to the office. It is now a Home Office Closet. I only use it for printing out random things on my printer and wrapping paper storage...and other junk!

The closet in our Guest Room happened to be very deep. We were able to fit our desk in there! Throw a desk in a closet and Volia...an Office!!

I am pretty embarrassed to show you the state of our home office. It is a total mess. I have tried and tired to organize it, but I cannot figure out how! At the top of the closet is a leg lamp, ceramic Christmas tree that my Great-Aunt Joyce made in the early 90's, and random fabric left-overs that I have used around the house.

Here is all my wrapping stuff! I have the 2 store sized rolls of wrapping paper on the closet clothes bar! When Neil's dad decided to close their department store a few years ago-he let me have wrapping paper, ribbon, and boxes! It was so cool to be able to choose from all the wrapping paper. I got a silver to use for any random thing...birthdays, showers, weddings, Christmas...I just change the color of the bow! I also got the white stripe for weddings.

Gymboree Graduate

Bennett graduated from Gymboree Level 1 today!  I didn't even know he was ready to graduate to Level 2 until we got to class today.  Good thing I put him in something cute! We are really excited to be in class with our friends who graduated a few weeks ago!  We will be attending the Friday class because I will have my classes on Monday-Thursday.

This summer is going to be full of classes for Bennett and me.  I will have classes at Tech every Monday-Thursday for 2 three-week sessions.  We will have Water Babies at Red River Scuba every Thursday at 9 a.m.  And, Gymboree on Fridays.  We are going to have an action packed summer!

Standardized Tests, Grad School, and Job Hunting!

In the past 2 months, I have taken 3 tests (Praxis, Praxis 2, and GRE) to get into grad school for the MAT (Masters of Arts in Teaching) at TECH. I never thought I would finish them let alone pass them. Well, I did!!! I am beyond thrilled that I am finished with these and on my way to be a Bulldog once again.  I received my letter and plan of study stating that I am now enrolled in the MAT program at Tech.  

Yesterday, I began the journey of job hunting!  I am able to be hired in the state of Louisiana if I am enrolled in an "Alt Cert" program.  I went to the Caddo Parish School Board and the Bossier Parish School Boards yesterday to drop off all of the required information for my applications.  This is not your average fill out an application process!  They require so much random information and numerous referrals signed and sent in by different people.  A BIG thanks to Carol, Katie, and Amy for helping me with all of my hiring hoopla!  

Today, Leigh and I went to Keithville Elementary/Middle to speak with the principal about teaching positions.  There is a Home Ec position and a Science position available.  She needs the Science and I need the Home Ec.  The principal was extremely nice and he even took us on a tour of the respective classrooms.  The Home Ec room was really great.  It had about 5 lab stations with a fridge, stove, sink, and microwave at each station.  This would be a dream classroom for me!

Mr. Allen interviewed me for about 20 minutes and told me he would make a decision by this Friday!  He said he would let me know either way!  I am getting pretty excited, but I am also trying not to get my hopes up either.  I guess I will just have to wait and see if this is God's place for me.
