Show Us Where You Live-Master Bedrooms

Here is our master bedroom. We got the bed last year after we "grew out" of our queen sized bed. Emme made the pillows in here too. The picture above our bed is from when we went to St. Maarten. Neil and I took a lot of pictures of the sunset and it is a progression of that. We are really proud of our photographic talents!

Sidenote...we each have a fan on our bed side tables. I have to have a fan blowing on my face no matter where I am or it is tough for him to sleep!

This is in front of our bed and our TV is in here. I didn't open it because it is sort of boring! That door on the left is to our bathroom.

This is my dresser in between our two closets. We had to move it in here when we got rid of the guestroom furniture. I see that I need to move it more in the middle. It is crooked! I got this vinyl decal of our monogram from an etsy seller. Let's just say that Neil doesn't love it as much as I do!

Here is Neil's dresser from the side. I couldn't take it from the other way because our bed would take up the whole photo!

Show Us Where You Live-Bathrooms

This week on the home tour is bathrooms...or my least favorite rooms in our house. We just have bad tile jobs and old plumbing. But hey...at least we have a place to shower!

Here is our hall bathroom. I made the cornice board over the window. You can do wonders with a staple gun! The fabric is the same at the shower curtain. Emme made the shower curtain. She is the best seamstress around!

Welcome to our only room with wallpaper. It came with the house. This is where I put on my make-up and do my hair everyday. I keep all of my jewelry in the middle drawer.

This is the vanity. I really do like this. It came with the house. I think it gives the bathroom an updated look especiall with that 50's tile!

Here is the master bathroom. I thought I had another picture of it, but I guess I didn't take one. It has a stall shower. Neil is the only person that uses this shower. I like to have a bathtub!

Show Us Where You Live-Office

We have come to the week of my most creative room. Maybe not creative room, but creative spot for the room!! Our Home Office. We used to have a whole room in our house dedicated to the office. It is now a Home Office Closet. I only use it for printing out random things on my printer and wrapping paper storage...and other junk!

The closet in our Guest Room happened to be very deep. We were able to fit our desk in there! Throw a desk in a closet and Volia...an Office!!

I am pretty embarrassed to show you the state of our home office. It is a total mess. I have tried and tired to organize it, but I cannot figure out how! At the top of the closet is a leg lamp, ceramic Christmas tree that my Great-Aunt Joyce made in the early 90's, and random fabric left-overs that I have used around the house.

Here is all my wrapping stuff! I have the 2 store sized rolls of wrapping paper on the closet clothes bar! When Neil's dad decided to close their department store a few years ago-he let me have wrapping paper, ribbon, and boxes! It was so cool to be able to choose from all the wrapping paper. I got a silver to use for any random thing...birthdays, showers, weddings, Christmas...I just change the color of the bow! I also got the white stripe for weddings.

Show Us Where You Live-Nursery Edition

This week we will be looking at Bennett's room! This is one room that I love because I had so much fun choosing all of the fabric and all of the accessories! I call it "Sophisticated Baby!!" I found this really awesome plaid dupioni silk at Milling Around. Well, it was SO expensive! I looked up the manufacturer and they told me a few places that may have it cheaper. I ended up finding it $20 cheaper per yard! I was thrilled!

Welcome to Bennett's room! This is the wreath on the door to my hospital room door. It hangs on his door now.

This is the view right when you walk in the door. I think the panels turned out great. My friend, Emme made them and everything else you will see in here.

Here is the glider that Pops (my dad) bought for his room. The shelf above is really a mantle that I bought from Lowes. I stained it to match his crib. All of the items on the "shelf" are sweet things that were given to us and older sentimental items.

This lamp shade was one thing I wanted so bad! My old boss and his wife gave it to us.

These little bronze booties are my dad's. I think they are so sweet sitting in Bennett's room. Aunt Rebecca gave him that little tooth fairy pillow.

Here is his dresser/changing table. We have another shelf that can go above the changing pad when we get out of diapers! I keep his diapers in the top drawer so they don't take up too much space on top. The hostesses of my last baby shower gave me the sweet scripture board on top. I love it. Bennett already has a little library too!

Here is Bennett's crib. It is a convertible one! Neil and I painted the little paintings above the bed. I used an overhead to make them. The bedding is SO luxurious. I think it turned out so cute! I found the mobile on Target.com. It is so contemporary. The little camera on top is for our video baby monitor. I really enjoy having it so I can look over and check on him all night!  I have now taken out the bumper pad.  He is starting to roll over and I am so scared of SIDS!

Here is Bennett is in "wheels!" He loves this little car. We have a phonebook underneath so his legs don't dangle!

Show Us Where You Live Fridays-Dining Room

Here is our dining room where we eat every single meal.

I mean some of our meals. We eat in front of the TV most nights!

This table is one of my favorite bargain finds! We got this at Discount Building Materials for only $99! I know...amazing! We sat in random folding chairs for about 3 months until we found our chairs at World Market. Neil and Beck put them together and it took them one whole Sunday afternoon to complete the task.

We also got the mirror at Discount Building materials for cheap! I made the sconces on either side of the mirror and by made I mean I bought everything and stuck the stems in the sconce.

Here is a close-up. It was the first time I tried to make something like this and I like how they turned out!

Our dining room is in our front living room. I like the chandelier too. We have a matching light over our sink in the kitchen.

Show Us Where You Live Fridays-Guest Rooms!

This home tour thing that Kelly is hosting is just so much fun to me! I really like touring everyone homes and showing ours too! Our guest room became our guest room when we found out I was pregnant! Bennett's room used to be our guest room. The guest room used to be our office. We moved our "office" into the deep closet in our guest room. It looks like there is going to be an office edition so, I will hold off on that today! Here we go:

This used to be our bed until we "outgrew" it! We really like our king-size bed! When I saw these panels at Target a couple years ago-I had to get them! This room used to be red, but I really didn't love it. We changed it to ivory when we made it the guest room. I got the pillows at Hobby Lobby (my fav!) a few months ago.

This "night stand" is really our filing cabinet! The vase is from Hobby Lobby. The front picture is of Neil and me and it is the very first picture we ever took. We look so young in it.

This the corner in front of the bed. We got the chair from World Market. We had the chaise lounge that matched it, but I sold it on Craig's List when I got pregnant! There was no room for it with the bed and all.

We love having guests! Please come over and stay a while...if you don't mind a screaming baby at times!

Show Us Where You Live Fridays-Living Room Edition!

We are to Week 2 of Kelly's "Show Us Where You Live Fridays!" I can't tell you how excited I have been about this. I tell people about it who don't even blog or read blogs! I have even gotten a few comments from people that I don't know...it is so COOL! I know I am such a blog dork! Anyway, here are some pictures of our living rooms.

This is our "front living room." We really don't do much living in here. Most things in this room are hand-me downs! We didn't have much when we moved in so, our parents gave us random things.

I tried to get a full shot of the room so it's a little crooked. The couch was from my mom's storage unit. I found the curtains at JC Penney. I am hoping to get the faux wood blinds soon. I have been saying that for 2 1/2 years now. I need to get on that!

I made some adjustments to the top of this buffet today.

The painting is from a little furniture store in Ruston. We received so many gifts from there for our wedding-we were able to take duplicates back to get this! I really like it. I just need more on this wall because it is SO big and bare. Any ideas? The table with the twisty legs used to be a really light pine color. Neil's parents gave us that and the chair with the blanket over it. Neil sanded the table and re-stained it. The lamp on the table is from my friend's garage sale. Her mom works at Montgomery Interiors and the lady who owns it puts things from the store in the garage sale. I got this lamp for $5!! Let me get off my soapbox and get back to the chair. I want a new chair instead of the blanket covered one. I just haven't seemed to find the perfect thing for that space.

I just made some adjusements to this table. I got to pick up Bennett's portraits today so I re-did a lot of the tables around the house today!

When we moved in, Neil's parents let us pick out a rug and coffee/end tables for our house warming gift. This coffee table and the end tables next to the couch were part of the gift. The buffet at the end of the room is my favorite! It holds all of my scrapbooks from high school up to Bennett's birth. That lamp on it was also $5 from the same garage sale!

Neil's parents also gave us the 2 lamps on the side tables. They were in their house for years! I would have turned on that lamp next to the door but, it has a short and no longer works! That is our front door. We hardly ever use it!

Here is the living room where we "live!" We got these shelves and entertainment console from World Market about 2 years ago. I ALWAYS change out my apothecary jars on top with the season. After Easter, I can never think of anything to put in them until Independence Day! So, they are empty at the moment. Neil was watching "My Boy Jack" when I took this picture. This is the view when you walk in from the kitchen. Also, that crystal candy jar is always filled with peanut M&M's. Sometimes I mix it up and add peanut butter ones...these are NOT Neil's favorite!

This is our love seat in between the door to the kitchen and the door to the hall. We have been looking for something to go over this love seat for 2 years and have not found anything yet. A couple weeks ago we decided we would paint something... Oh Goodness! That is a post all to itself! This rug was our house-warming gift from Neil's parents.

Here is the couch where we spend most of our nights. I gave this coffee table to Neil for his birthday about 5 years ago. I love this painting too. Some say that is it not "original!" I call it an "original" but we have seen it numerous places! Amy's mom made the green pillows for my birthday one year!

Here is a table that sits in the corner of the room. The top is pretty full! I used to have it on the other side of the room. We moved it to put up our Christmas tree and haven't moved it back.

The corner where the plant is is where the table above used to be. These doors open to our patio and back yard. I bought some fabric to have roman shades made but haven't gotten around to getting them made! The little play mat in the corner is a Bennett favorite!!

Show Us Where You Live Fridays!-Kitchen Edition

I am so totally excited about this series that Kelly's Korner is doing! We are going to show different parts of our houses each Friday. This week it's the kitchen! I think this will be my favorite week because I LOVE KITCHENS! So...Welcome to our kitchen!

This is the view of our kitchen from the dining room.

Here is the little serving bar area. When we were looking at houses and I saw this..I told Neil "I can serve food on this for Bunco!" (And I do.)

Here we have the fridge and the shelves where I keep my crystal glasses (that I have used twice) and my cookbooks. I love cookbooks. That really large frame on the counter is hiding our toaster! :) Here is the window that looks out into our back yard. The dishtowels hanging on my oven are from Anthropologie. They have the best dishtowels. I like to change them out with the season.
