Bullying

Neil got home on Tuesday from picking up Bennett and they said that Bennett was in time out on and off the whole day. The teacher said that he was being a bully and being too rough. She said that he would pull hair, push kids, and then laugh. She said that he thought that he was playing, but the other kids did not.

Today, I picked him up and we had a report. Another child bit Bennett on the back. It is a bad bite that left a nasty red mouth mark. The teacher said that it was due to Bennett's bullying. She said that Bennett was about to grab the kids collar so the kid bit him.

We don't know what to do! We can't really punish Bennett when he gets home for something that happened 5 hours earlier. Maybe he is bored. Maybe is getting the kids back for all of the biting they have done to him. Who knows? We sure don't.

  2. oh my gosh, poor bennett. i'm sure he is getting bullied behind the teachers back and he is just trying to defend himself.
he is so big and adorable and hopefully we will get to visit ya'll and see him in person one day.
until then, i'm so glad to have your blog to follow to watch the little man grow.

  3. i'm sorry! i have a friend that went through this and she had the daycare call her when the child did something wrong (in her case it was biting). she would go straight there and punish him herself. it worked! i realize you teach and that may not be feasable but maybe neil could do that?

and then also the teacher needs to keep a better eye on him/the other kids and not allow anything that's "bad"! i also realize that's easier said than done.
