Day One in Pagosa Springs

Since the 416 Fire happened and burned over 37,000 acres of the San Juan National Forest, our original plan of going to Durango was detoured.  Jill invited us to go on this family trip over a year ago and to have the whole plan change due to a fire was a little sad for us. But, what was amazing is the Earnests grandparents also had a Colorado home and offered to let us stay there!  I sure wish we had a Colorado home to offer! :)

Lucky for us, our sweet friends invited us on this amazing trip of a lifetime!  We spent the first few days of the trip in Pagosa Springs (45 minutes from Durango where Jill's home is located) and then headed to Durango when Purgatory lifted the evacuation status.

Pagosa Springs was just the cutest town ever.  The San Juan river runs right through the town and has little hot springs all over the place.  Our first day there we got up, made breakfast, and dressed for the rain.  We went straight to the visitors center to get some ideas.   The kids favorite part of that was getting free Pagosa Springs water bottles!

The lady suggested we walk to a hot spring so that's just what we did!  Everything is gorgeous!  The flowers, the river, and bridges, the hot springs, the weather, and the distant mountains are breathtaking.  I can't wait to go back.
Rain jackets ready!

Kenneth and Nolan jumped in every single puddle!

Henry loved it!  I mean look at the flowers that just pop up out of the rocks! :)

We just made ourselves at home in this "Hippie Dip" as they call it in PS.

The only part about  the springs that was gross was how they smelled.   It didn't stop us from going back! We couldn't get the sulfur smell out of our clothes!

How cute!

Sister was loving her river shoes! Feeling all Colorado up in here!
