Bull Buteau Skeet Shoot

After talking about it for a few years we decided to have a girl team at the Bull Buteau Skeet Shoot!  We decided to enter before we even learned how to shoot a gun...but we had our monogrammed shirts planned so that's all that matters, right?  We had a wonderful time supporting a great cause and being with friends.  I can see us entering tournaments all over the city now that we actually know how to load a gun and fire it!

I was proud of myself for hitting 18/102!  Almost 20%!  Neil thought I was going to tell him that I only hit 5 or something so he was impressed too.  Mary Catherine was the winner of our team with 37 hits!  She is an old pro!  Way to go, Buckshot Babes!!!  I can't wait for next year!

We learned how to load and shoot the guns 2 days before at the camp.  Andre cooked and threw skeet.  Trey and Neil were the expert gun safety advisers.

We pulled up bright and early Saturday morning to about 50 trucks with trailers, rangers, and carts.  My kind of party right here.  Oh, and the country music...I love the south!  I will have to say that I was a little intimidated and nervous, but then I just felt so cool knowing I was actually participating!
We were feeling super confident because we knew just what to do.  But, we got to our first station and had forgotten shotgun shells and our score card.  Luckily Erinn is married to the guy running the show so he brought what we needed.  Thankfully Trey put Andre and Sutton with us and they were a huge help.  I decided their team name would be "Buckshot Babes Assistants!"

I am shooting my dad's 20 gauge and wearing a sweet shotgun pouch.
Our team: Mary Catherine, Jennifer, Leigh, me, and Erinn

Nana and Granddad brought the boys out.  Gammy kept SK for me.

Looking official!

Neil said "I thought you were getting your shirt monogrammed.." I said "turn it over!"  He thought the huge monogram was offensive! haha!

Bennett and Georgia
Trey announced the winners and almost forgot about the last place winners...Buckshot Babes! ha!  Bennett was thrilled and kept saying "we wooooon, we woon" all day long. He told me all day after "Mommy, I am sooooo proud of you!"  After his sweet comments I didn't need to win.  We did win with an average score of 22.  The next closest to us was a 42! ha!
Our prize: water guns!  ha!  The kids were thrilled because they actually got a prize!

sweet things!

Henry's 3rd birthday party!

We had Henry's 3rd birthday party with Reid, Carolyn's grandson.  They are born a week apart so it just seemed like a great idea.  All along I would ask Henry "what do you want for your birthday?"  He would always say "a birthday party!"

And that is just what we did!

I edited out the cute bottom of this to delete our phone numbers! :)

I am basically a crazy lady when it comes to planning the birthday parties.  It is something I love to do and I just can't get enough of them.  I really just want my babies to feel special.  I do go a bit overboard, but it's one day a year...right?

So, my craziness with this party was when I decided that I wanted to give balls that "bounce" as the party favor because we were "bouncing" at the party..get it?  So when I saw that Target put their balls on clearance I bounced on them (pun intended!).  Only thing I never thought of was how I was going to get them home with 2 kids (Henry was at school), 3 carseats, and limited cargo space.  Thankfully, I saw Lindsay in the toy department and she offered to take some home for me!  I also called Carolyn and she came to pick up a set.
All the Target balls
And we got cute labels for the balls...  It turned out cute.

I love this family photo

Thanks, Gammy!

Since Neil was out of town for 10 days working in North Dakota we had the luxury of having Gammy stay with us!  We all loved it and had tons of fun.  I just hate that Gammy had to sleep on the couch.  She said she'd rather sleep there than Henry's bed.  We will have a fancy sofa bed delivered tomorrow just for her!

Thanks, Gammy!  I couldn't do it without you!

The Beach within Reach

We didn't have waves or sharks or sea weed, but we had sand and water and as far as my boys are concerned....WE WERE AT THE BEACH!  Ashleigh told me that they went to Cypress Black Bayou a few weeks ago and were going again on August 5th.  I basically invited us to crash their party.  I am so glad I did!  We dropped SK off at school which I felt bad about and headed to the "beach."  I just felt like they have been at her beck and call the whole summer and they needed some fun in the sun!  We stayed at the beach for 5 hours!  We packed a picnic, snacks, and water toys.  We had the best day lounging in the water, digging in the sand, and playing with friends.

My big boys and I had the beach to ourselves for about an hour.

Thanks, Ashleigh for letting us play on your rafts.

After Ashleigh demonstrated what she wanted the kids to do for the group photo we attempted it. We wanted them to all splash around for a cute pic. I think they did great!  We took this after Caroline and Katherine left. Wish they would have been in it.

Bennett was digging while we took the group pic.

He loved making sand castles!  Such a sweet, almost kindergartner!

Sarah Kathryn starts school

I am so glad we were able to get Sarah Kathryn in where Henry used to attend.  They say it takes 18 months on the waiting list to get in!  So glad she was a sibling!  We are just loving her teacher, Lakasha.  She is the sweetest!  I've been taking her a few hours here and there.  It is hard to drop off my baby, but I know she is in good hands.
