Sneax Day #2

We were excited that Nana was with us during our snow days.  She was such a GREAT, BIG help while we were stuck inside.  She played with the boys,  cooked, and did laundry.  Come back anytime, Nana!

We woke up and played about 2,278 games of Connect 4 Launchers.  I don't want to brag, but I am pretty good at this game.  I was putting the beat down on these boys!  Kidding, I let them win a few times! :)

I had the great idea to see if the boys could get in for their 6 month dental check-ups since we were out of school anyway.  They were originally scheduled for President's Day, but since I was going to see Neil in Tulsa, I had to cancel the appointments.  They told me just to come on down to the office to have the boys seen! The roads were pretty icy, but not terrible. I was excited because it was the least busy I'd ever seen it.  They really have pediatric dentistry down to a science.

Bennett just gets right up there and lets them do whatever they need to do!  Such a big boy!
Henry just had to see what was going on.  He liked watching Bennett.

Fluoride for Bennett

Bennett told his one "knock-knock" joke to the hygienists about 4 times.  He loves an audience!

There are no pictures of Henry because it took me and 2 hygienists to hold him down to get his teeth brushed.  He fought the whole time, but had NO tears!  I think he was just a little scared.  We had the same issue with the dentist.  I just held him while we put his head in her lap.

Really EXCITED about their bags of goodies!

We went to lunch with the grandmothers after our dentist appointment.  We ended up at Trejo's because one of the places we tried to go to was closed for weather!  We can't handle ice and snow in Shreveport!!

Henry and Gammy
We came home and put Henry down for a nap.  Nana whipped up some meat-loaf while I typed a PowerPoint.  I'd say it was a productive day!

We even had a visit from Pops...

It Snowed!

While we were decorating our cupcakes it really started coming down!  We had to hurry and get bundled up before it all melted away.  We stayed outside for maybe 15 minutes before they were ready to come in.  They loved it!  The best part was that Nana had a warm bath waiting for them after they finished playing.

During our play, I received this e-mail saying that we would get a 2nd snow day! yesssssssssssss!

My snowbabies!

I don't know if he was catching snow or rain.  He didn't mind!

We put a bowl outside in hopes of catching snow to make snow ice cream.  The next morning Bennett brought the bowl to me IN MY BED to show me that it was just a big bowl of ice.  Maybe next year!

Henry at 2 1/2

I just cannot believe Henry is 2 1/2!  Where does the time go?  I feel like we just brought him home from the hospital.  But, no he is growing up to be such a big boy.  Neil and I were talking the other day about how we just can't believe that he will be starting pre-school in August.  Our baby is growing up!

Henry, where do I start?
  • you have the sweetest personality!  Even your teachers and the director talk about how sweet you are and how much they love you.  We do, too!

  • You can be VERY stubborn.  You do NOT like being told "no." You know how to get your way...we are working on this.
  • to go along with the stubbornness is your unwillingness to say you are sorry.  You will do something to Bennett and we will want you to say you are sorry, but you will go hug him and NOT say it!
  • You love to laugh and it is the cutest thing.
  • You like when you get a bo-bo for Daddy to "thump" it.  One day Neil thumped some bump you got and you said "thank you, Daddy!"  Now, you think that is the cure.  But, you want Mommy to kiss bo-bo's.  Sometimes you will say "no, Daddy thump it!"
I love this pouty face!

  • You are talking up a storm and your vocabulary is increasing day by day.  I am shocked at all the words you know.
  • You love books and love picking out various pictures in them.
  • You are great at identifying colors and even some letters.
  • You are loving doing things on your own.  You are SO big!
good job with those socks!
  • You love to play "got your nose" and take people's noses.
  • You do not enjoy talking on the phone, but you do like to Face-time

  • You've gotten really into "Jake and the Neverland Pirates." You say "wanna watch yo ho mateys!"
  • Your version of a "knock-knock" joke is to say "knock-knock" (who's there?)  And then you will just say a fruit or vegetable.  We like when you say "broccoli!"
  • You are really showing interest in potty-training...you keep a dry diaper a lot and you like going on the potty both #1 and #2.  I really need to get on the ball and get you trained!  Spring Break maybe?
  • You like to dip EVERYTHING in ketchup. ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
oranges dipped in ketchup ICK!
  • You LOVE to sleep.  You LOVE your crib.  We will be moving you to your big-boy bed in Bennett's room very soon.  I don't know if I'm ready!
  • If you are ever coughing, you with pay your own back to make it better! ha!
  • You aren't very interested in the baby in my tummy.  You say that the baby is in your tummy or that you have a lion in your tummy.  so cute!
We just love you soooooooooooo much and think you get cuter and smarter every day!  We are so proud to be your parents!

Sneaux Day #1

Finding out on Monday that we would be out of school on Tuesday for a snow day was like getting a Christmas present in February!  We decided to celebrate by getting ice cream after dinner.  Mom and I took the kids while Nana stayed home.

They were super thrilled to get these clown cones.  I remember always wanting one of these when I was little.

We began our snow day with Another Broken Egg.  Nana and I love it and since we had NO SNOW/ICE we headed out on our way.

Henry does NOT like to smile on cue.  I still think this is a cute pic.

I've been needing to take Henry to the ENT to get his 2nd tube taken out.  Apparently it has been sitting in his ear canal not doing anything to help the ear drum.  He has been trying to dig something out of his ear for a while now, but the pediatrician said he probably couldn't feel it.  The ENT can't ever accommodate my schedule because they won't schedule anyone after 3:30 pm...even though they are there until 5!  I got the best idea and called to see if I could get him in during our random day off.  They said yes, so I got him up from his nap and headed over there.
He was extra happy when I gave him this bag of "m-a-lems" (M&M's).  Do what you gotta do, right?

They came right in and took his tube out.  They said that his ears look GREAT so hopefully we won't have to get another set.  I can't believe how tiny tubes are!

We walked out of the ENT office and it was sleeting!  I couldn't believe it!  We were hoping it would stick so the boys could play.  We hurried home to get out of the cold to see what the weather would do.  Thankfully, Leigh had given me some delicious potato soup so we had that for dinner.  It was fabulous!

I made some cupcakes during Henry's nap and got all the fun Valentine's stuff out for them to decorate.  They chose orange and purple icing for the cupcakes.  I made pink for a festive touch.

It actually started snowing while we were decorating!  How fun!

30 weeks!!!

This little stinker was supposed to be taking my picture but he turned the camera around and took one of himself! :)  love him!

snow day outfit (snow days are the best!)

PregnancHighlights:

How Far Along: 30 Weeks

Size of baby: large cabbage (from Babycenter) (I will find out for sure at my next appointment because I have an ultrasound!)

Total Weight Gain/Loss: don't know

Maternity Clothes: Mostly maternity...I have to wear Neil's t-shirts for pajamas because mine don't fit :)

Gender: We aren't finding out!  It is sort of fun not knowing.  We are trying to come up with a creative way to tell people what we are having.  Our girl name is Sarah Kathryn and our boy name is TBD.  We are thinking Michael for a middle name after my brother and uncle.

Movement: kicking and moving all the time.  Lots in the early morning and evening.

Sleep: I sleep really well except for my every 1-2 hour bathroom breaks.  Thankfully I can go right back to sleep after getting up.  I am having a lot of hip pain that wakes me up at night.

What I miss: pain-free living due to tail bone/hip issues

Cravings: I have been loving yogurt, cold items, and sweets..always

Symptoms:  just getting bigger by the minute

Best Moment this week: Bennett heard Henry crying on the monitor one morning and he said "I hear the baby in your tummy crying!"

King Cake Makin'

Aunt Becky bought a do-it-yourself king cake for the boys again this year.   We love that she gets to go to New Orleans and WE reap the benefits.  Don't get me started on the "Ooey Gooey Snickedoodle" king cake she brought back...man it was delectable!

The boys had fun decorating their own cake and eating it, too!

February Saturday

We were so excited to have Neil home on Saturday.  The boys get so excited to do fun things with him.  We started our morning at Lowe's because they had a fun "love letter holder" building class.  I was surprised at how much Henry got in to it.  He really liked using his hammer!

Great job, Bennett!

We saw Beau and Drew there too.  Beau was really concentrating on his chalk drawing!

My sweeties!
Our next stop was Akin's.   They have the best deal in town...$5 to decorate and plant a pot for Valentine's Day.  They said they will be doing it for Easter and Mother's Day as well.  We will certainly be partaking.  Thanks to Pops for telling us about it and going the day before to pay for us to go.

soooo proud of his pot!

Bennett chose lettuce for his plant! :)

They were most excited about the box of candy they received after they finished.

I had to laugh at the difference in boys and girls.  We arrived and saw a girl I work with her daughter and a friend.  They were working hard on their pots making sure everything was just right.  Our boys got there after them, decorated, planted, and were ready to leave before those girls had even finished decorating!  Such a difference!
