Super-Filled Saturday

I am so behind on blogging!!!  But, I've been taking pictures and that's what counts, right???

Last Saturday, we had lots of social fun.  We are usually never busy on Saturdays but it just so happened that everything we got to do for April was on the same day.  The Allen's hosted a crawfish boil and invited us.  We were glad to see their new house.  They just moved up to Shreveport from New Orleans about 6-8 months ago and this is one of the only times I have seen them.

Next, Bennett had a birthday party for one of the kids in his class.  The party was actually for 3 little girls and it was HUGE.  They had 2 ponies, 2 jump houses, a photo booth, and the ICE CREAM Truck even showed up!  Bennett was in heaven!

After the party, we had our Sunday School social.  Betsy, a new member of our class hosted at her fabulous home.  She had the best set-up for a party.  Huge backyard with tree house, swing-set,  trampoline, and a heated pool!  It was fabulous!

Our last stop of the evening was to Carolyn's house.  Her kids and grandson were in town looking at houses because they will be moving here this summer.  We went because they were having a "gender reveal" to find out what Sarah is having.  I didn't even know she was pregnant!  She bit into the cupcake and the center was blue!  It's another boy for them!

Bountiful Harvest

We harvested our first strawberry from the garden the other day.  Bennett is sooooooooooooo extra, super, excited about his garden!  He was thrilled to finally eat a strawberry.  I took a little taste of it and it was delicious!

Dress up day!

Bennett and I both had dress-up days at school this week.  My student are learning about the color wheel and color schemes so what better way to learn more than a real world activity!?  I made it an assignment for them to dress in a color scheme.

I dressed in a triadic color scheme...primary colors!  The best dressed kid was a girl who wore yellow jeans with a violet top... complementary.  Most dressed monochromatic and a few analogous (3 colors next to each other on the color wheel).

I won for best dressed in my opinion!

Bennett has been talking all about farmers this week.  They even planted bean sprouts and watched them grow.  He brought them him and insisted on watering them today.  They are pretty much floating in water now.  They got to dress as farmers today!
awwwww!  I love this farmer!  The only plaid shirt we had was his Christmas one.

We certainly couldn't leave brother out!  He wore his John Deere shirt to be his assistant.

2 weddings and plane crash

Are you startled by the title of this post?  Tis true...we were at a wedding while a plane crashed in the field next to us.  We are totally not very popular at all.  But, this weekend we had 2 weddings and a couple's shower all in the same area of town and all 3 at the same time.  Both weddings were of guy's that Neil used to work with.  We went to one wedding and the other reception.  We got to the reception at the Dixie Gin just as the wedding finished.  We ate, drank, and visited with a few folks.  I walked over to the line to get cheesecake and stayed there a while.  Finally, after I got my piece, I turned around and noticed every single person was gone!

I walked outside to find Neil and someone told me that a plane crashed!  Sure enough, a plane was down in the field across from the Gin.  Neil walked over there and turned out the pilot was Dobson's brother!  The 2 pilots walked out of the plane unscathed...or so Neil thought.

Neil said "hey man, aren't you Dobson's brother? Are you OK?!"

He said "yes, and I'm fine."

Neil said "yeah, you look good."

some other guy goes "OMG, look at your legs!"

Come to find out, the guy's legs had bones coming out of each of them and HE WAS WALKING!  Wow.  Talk about a body in shock!

Thankfully, both pilots are safe and the wedding was fun.  I doubt I'll ever go to another wedding with a plane crash...at least I hope not.

Spring Photo Shoot

Since we missed church on Easter, I decided to put everyone in their Easter outfits for the Sunday after.  Everyone looked adorable and our azaleas are blooming so obviously we needed some pictures after church.  We ate a fancy Taco Bell lunch and then tackled the photos.

We bribed with M&Ms and made silly noises.  We got some good ones!

Most Easter fun!

Not only did our boys get fun Easter items from the Easter bunny at our house, they received a plethora of other fun stuff!

Uncle Andrew brought over this huge basket for Bennett and HUGE stuffed dog for Henry...the thing is literally taller than both boys.  I have no pictures because it seems that it was misplaced.  Pops even gave the kids Frozen Frog gift cards for a sweet treat.

B was super excited about this basket!!

Then there was more fun for the boys when Gammy walked in with Easter buckets!  Since we are going to be members of Pierremont this summer, they needed bathing suits and pool toys!  I am so excited because POTC has an amazing summer deal only until 4/15/13.  If you want to join...hop to it!
Bennett got a snorkel set with fins and a Superman bathing suit!

Henry finally woke up from his nap and got to open his goodies!

His favorite was the squeezable flavored marshmallow..ick.

Mom even thought of me!  Thank you!!

Resurrection Rolls

I was glad that we didn't have to rush around on Easter morning so that we'd have plenty of time to make resurrection rolls.  I've seen it on Pinterest for the past couple years and have wanted to make them.  Bennett totally loved it!  This was a great activity for someone who is supposed to doing calm activities.  Henry even felt like getting in on the action.

They were super simple and extra delicious.  It was an easy way to remind Bennett about the Easter story.  Basically you take a marshmallow and it represents Jesus.  You dip it in butter and sugar/cinnamon to represent the oil and spices that anointed His body. Last, you wrap the marshmallow in a crescent roll that represents the tomb.  Cook them, the marshmallow melts, and the tomb is empty!

Brother went and got a chair and climbed right up to help.  I was so excited, because he usually isn't interested in helping.

It's empty!
Amendment from our friend, Chris.
Resurrection rolls are an interesting concept.  I was curious how they would translate into the Resurrection of Jesus.  Seems like the marshmellows just disappear.  They never reappear?  I think the marshmallows should have to reappear if we are calling them Ressurection rolls.  Otherwise, Jesus is just disappearing.  The point is, he reappeared and then ascended into heaven.

As a Catholic, I find these mildly sacrilegious.  The devil is very tricky Lindsey, so don't fault yourself for falling for his Pinterest tricks.  People of loose moral fiber often do.  Just be thankful the Lewis family has me.
