Fall Festival

Our neighborhood had their Fall Festival last weekend.  A lot of people in our neighborhood participated to help make it a huge success!  We had a pumpkin decorating contest the week before and announced the winners at the festival.  Each person received a Frozen Frog gift card.  A photographer from our neighborhood offered to take photos with a cute background and she even had props!  We had people selling the things they make, a jump house, food, games, and crafts.  Mom even did a cake walk for me that was spectacular!

Here are a few of the photos that Maria took.  I just love them!

I wanted Neil in this, but he had to man the front table while I took this photo!

Henry loved the pictures!

love this!

The posters have the winning pumpkins on them, the candy corn jar is for "Guess how many" and there is Bennett's green hair!

Curious George

I love locally owned businesses just like my friend Amanda.  I love supporting people that build their businesses by themselves with no help from the government.  Local businesses do fun things like invite an over-sized Curious George into their store to greet kids for fun and pictures.  Toy Fair has been around for 61 years and I even remember getting my favorite pair of purple Keds there as a child.  Now, I am taking my kids for shoes and toys.  It is always so exciting to get a package wrapped in their signature red/white striped paper.

On Saturday we ran to Toy Fair to see the fabulous Curious George   If you know Bennett you know he has loved George for over a year and when you are only 3 that is 1/3 of your life!  He LOVES George.

He saw George and immediately started talking to him like he was an old friends "Hey George!"  "Look, you are on my shirt!"  "George, I was watching you  on TV this morning." Henry, however, was not too thrilled to see George.  I wonder how Santa will go this year??

So happy!!

While we were waiting on George to arrive Bennett went "shopping."  He grabbed a little cart and put everything in it that he thought looked great.  They made a little wish list for him so the grandparents could know what to get him for his birthday and Christmas.  He was not too thrilled when we didn't buy but 2 of the items for birthday gifts.

Henry is 15 months old!

Dear Henry,

I am losing track of time because it is going by so quickly!  You are already 15 months old!  I cannot believe it!  You love to play, explore, and eat.  You are growing so much and having fun while doing it!

  • You are wearing 12-18 month clothes and some 24 month items.
  • You measure a size 3 for shoes, but I bought a 4 to give you some room to grow.
  • You wear a size 5 diaper and an overnight diaper at night.  You were waking up soaked from head to toe in the middle of the night so we went to night time diapers.  Thankfully they are working!

  • You love to play cars and say "vrooom vrooooom!"  It is so cute!
  • You love Gloria!  You like to feed her while in your high chair and she loves you for it.
  • Bennett is still the funniest person ever to you.  He can make you laugh if you are crying in a matter of seconds.  He is also pretty rough with you and you don't even seem to mind.  You just go with the flow.
  • You are still eating like crazy.  We have to order you your own order of pancakes from McDonald's if we get breakfast there.  I love seeing just how much food you can put away!  When you and B are in high school you boys are going to eat us out of house and home!

  • The only words you say are "mama, daddy, uh oh, and tank u"  You love saying "uh oh."  You will drop something on purpose just so you can say it!
  • You are a happy little thing!  You do whine a lot right now, but I think you are teething.  You have and eruption cyst in the back of your mouth.  I was freaking out because it is a huge, swollen, purple bulge on your gums.  Thankfully, I sent a text to Megan and Dr. Black confirmed that it is A-OK.  You are just getting a molar!  You have 4 teeth on top and 2 on bottom.

  • You love to snuggle up to Daddy in our bed.  If you are having a bad night, we will bring you to our bed and you want to go right to Daddy.  He knows how to snuggle just right.
  • You go to bed very easily.  We just put you in your bed and say "night night."  You just have a problem staying asleep all night.

  • We just love you to the moon and back!  I can't imagine our lives without you!  You are pretty much doing all the same things as Bennett at 15 months old.  I need to put you in the green/white outfit that is right here.

Trick or Treating 2012

Trick-or-Treating this year was so nice.  We decided to stay in our own neighborhood and it turned out to be a great decision.  In the past we have gotten together in different neighborhoods with friends for a hayride.  I didn't realize how stressful those hayrides really were!  I really did miss being with all of our friends and seeing their costumes though.  I guess you have good and bad with everything.

Our next door neighbors invited us over for a fun little gathering and then trick-or-treating.  Every boy at their house was a super hero!  It was so cute to see like 6 Spidermen, 4 Batmen, a couple Robins, and 1 really scary Hulk.

I was super excited to see that our neighbors really got into the Halloween spirit and all participated.  There were people EVERYWHERE!  Lots of neighbors were sitting outside handing out their candy.  It made me feel like we live in a good neighborhood.  Our old neighborhood was always dark and had no candy for anyone.

Bennett behaving like Spiderman?

Pops and Carolyn were going to trick-or-treat with us so they showed up at the neighbors party to let us know they were there.  We were so glad Carolyn wanted to join us.

Here is the first house of the evening! Bennett was soooooooooo excited!!!  Eric (our neighbor) was a really scary man with a mask.  I knew Bennett was going to be so scared.

You can see how he just stopped cold when he saw him.  We reminded him that it was just a mask on Eric's face.  He grabbed the candy and got out of there!

I love this chunky spider!!

This is my favorite picture!  Bennett running up the a house while Henry is waddling behind with his bag.  So cute!

Henry was pretty fussy and I had no idea why until the next morning.  I had given him his milk before trick-or-treating but he only drank about 1/4 of it.  The next morning he had throw-up in his bed.  Neil smelled the brand new milk and it I was spoiled!  My poor baby!  I guess that's what I get for going to the ghetto Brookshires on my way to get H from daycare.  I felt terrible.

Sweet H was really trying.  He wanted candy soooo badly!

This guy said they had about 25 pounds of candy to give out and wanted the boys to take a bunch!

Happy Halloween from the Lewis Family!

Saints vs. Broncos in Denver

One thing that Neil really likes to do is look up restaurants in other cities that have been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.  He always has great ideas!  We went to Fuel in Charleston and Steuben's in Denver.  Where else shall we go, Neil?

Steuben's was fabulous!  I even bought a t-shirt.  Mac and cheese, fried chicken and waffles minus the waffles because their waffle irons weren't on, milkshake cocktails, and other comfort foods can't be beat!

We did get laughed at for wearing our Saints attire in the restaurants by some not-so-funny Broncos fans.  I noticed that the Broncos fans weren't nice.  I am all about having fun and razzing people, but not mean razzing.  They would just plain laugh at our faces or make fun of our accents.  Just downright mean.

All the Saints fans plus 2 Cowboys fans that shall remain nameless :)

We got bundled up and headed to Sports Authority field at Mile High Stadium (or however you say it).  There is an actual location in this stadium that is 1 mile above sea level.  Our seats were higher than that.

us in front of the stadium

If you feel like you can see the top of the stadium only like 3 rows above us it's because we were THAT high up

The half time show was dedicated to 120 women in the Denver area with breast cancer.
Some of the stories were just tear jerkers.

After the game...we were happy!  The Saints lost and barely even showed up to play.  Sad game, but fun times with friends!

Downtown Denver

After getting "Fluffed," we headed to the brewery where the fellows were located.  We walked in and they were shocked!  I don't know if it was because we just looked so awesome or if they'd been drinking too much.  I am going with we just looked so fancy they couldn't contain themselves.

Me, my braid, and Neil

Beau and Leigh
After the brewery we headed to Vesta Dipping Grill.  This was a really cool spot where they served 3 dipping sauces with every food.  Beau argued that the food was so good it didn't need the dips.  I am guessing he didn't get the concept of the restaurant!

the 6 after dinner

We headed to the train station and noticed that the boys were carrying our H&M bags!  We turned around and told them to strike a pose and they did!

Boys love H&M!
