Piggy Bank

Did you know that we have a human piggy bank living in our home?  I didn't either until my mom called me from Houston to let me know that Bennett swallowed a penny.

He was just saving it for later.  He only put it in his mouth for a little bit but then it accidentally went down his throat. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

I called the nurse on call and she said that if hadn't passed it by a few days later then he would need an x-ray.  It never passed so an x-ray it was.  I took him in and he was TERRIFIED of the x-ray!  He thought the plate under the machine was going to give him shots.  Poor guy.  It took myself and another nurse to hold him down while another nurse held Henry outside.  Apparently the Lewises require 3 nurses' help at all times.

And BOOM!  There's the penny!  It was in his colon.  So glad it wasn't stuck and that we didn't have to have it surgically removed.  I don't think I could have handled it.

One thing we've all been trying to do is guess the year of the penny.  My aunt read online that pennies after 1982 could be toxic...well we are partying like it's 1999 that this penny is out!  It was a 1999 penny.

Donnie: 1997 (WINNER of the penny!..kidding I threw it away!)
