18 Months old! A year and a half? Really?

Bennett, you are 18 months old! 1 1/2 years ago you were born and you made us parents. I cannot believe you are closer to being 2 than being 1. I am already planning your 2nd birthday party. Here's what you have been up to lately:

  • You have started throwing fits. This is new to us. It started a few weeks ago. You will stomp your feet and start screaming if you do not get your way. We usually ignore you and walk out of the room to show that we don't condone that type of behavior. We have tried time out tons and borrowed the great idea of Mr. Spoon from the Buteaus. The spoon works a lot better than time out.
  • You wear a size 4 diaper...still.
  • You wear mostly 18 month clothes. Size 5 shoe.
  • You have started saying all kinds of words lately. Your vocabulary just took off over night. You say the same words as last month, but have added several more. We love hearing your sweet little voice.
  • When we pray at night before dinner, you hold our hands and say "yaaaaaaay" after we say Amen." You are usually quiet during the prayer, too.

  • You know where your head, nose, eyes, ears, toes, belly button, and some other parts of the body are located.
  • I am really trying to drill your colors with you this Summer. So far, you have only said yellow (ye-yow) 2 times and you do not know what the color is. I am still working with you and I know you will get it soon enough.
  • You LOVE to throw and swat at balls. You love rolling them, too.
  • You love the water and are taking swimming lessons with me this Summer.
  • I love being home with you. It makes teaching totally worth it!
