3 Sisters Gallery

I am so excited to share this sweet deal by 3 Sisters Gallery.  All 3 of the sisters were actually Sigma Kappa sorority sisters of mine.  I love supporting local businesses and this deal is just too good to pass up.

Here's the deal: During the month of September you can get $50 off your CUSTOM house painting and if you share this deal on your Facebook page...you get $20 more off!  So, basically you can get $70 off with very little work on your part.  I am just so excited to get my very own custom painting to hang in our home. Oh and she can even add cute, other custom things like a Saints flag or your dog on the front porch.

Contact Blair for your very own CUSTOM painting.  Did I mention it is CUSTOM?

Here are a few of her past paintings:

Gloria goes to school

I think I forgot to mention that we decided to keep Gloria.  She has really turned out to be a great dog.  The boys and Neil love her so I guess I have to, too?  Anyway, this was pet week at Bennett's new school.  I knew he would just love it if he could have her there for show and tell.  Neil said the best day for him would be Thursday at 8:45 am.  I took her to the groomer the day before and even had school colored bows put in her hair.  Neil thinks they look silly so he took them out!

So, Thursday arrives and it is a normal morning.  Neil got to Henry's daycare to drop him off and was met at the car by one of the workers saying they were having to shut down Thursday and Friday because of busted water pipes.  It was a total disaster.  I could just picture Neil with Bennett, Henry, and the dog showing up to show and tell!

Bennett was so proud saying "Gloria licks, but doesn't bite."
My boys and Gloria

Luckily Carolyn was available to save the day and keep Henry for us.  She met Neil at the house at 9:35 and kept him until I could get away from school.  Today, he is staying with a lady that I called and met yesterday.  It is really scary to leave your baby with someone you've met for 5 minutes.  But, a working mom's gotta do what a working mom's gotta do!

Dallas Girl's Weekend

I feel like I got so much accomplished on my day weekend.  I worked so hard on lesson plans, grocery shopped, made 3 meals for our week, and even went to Dallas!

We had a nice time.  Leslie opened up her posh apartment to us once again.  We were so excited that Casey flew in to meet us from Denver.  She is such a jet-setter!
Here we are at our first restaurant of the trip..Fernando's Mexican restaurant

We stayed up until 2 am talking!  I haven't stayed up that late since the early 2000s. Since everyone agreed that we should all sleep in...we didn't wake up until 8:30-8:45!  It was great to sleep and then take a quick shower to get ready for our action packed day.  Breakfast on Saturday was great.  I dined on a red velvet pancake and cheese grits.  We had a 45 minute wait so breakfast was sort of an early lunch.

cute breakfast place...Odddfellows
We headed to the Dallas Aborteum after breakfast to see the Chihuly exhibit.  It was some pretty fancy blown glass.  I am no stranger to Chihuly since I've seen his work in Vegas and the Bahamas at Atlantis.  It's amazing what he can do with some glass.  Erinn is going to teacher a lesson on Chihuly so she got some great photos for her PowerPoint.

After a whirlwind day of shopping, going to the Pearl Cup, Zoe's Kitchen, and Mockingbird station...we got to rest at Leslie's for a couple hours.  We got ready for our dinner and headed to Meddlesome Moth. It was such a cool restaurant.  They had lots of tasting plates so we all got to share.

We ate: Lobster Poutine, Bacon lollipops, pork belly, salads, and moth balls. Delish.

After dinner we went to the movie at 10 pm!  I know what you are thinking..."How did you stay up?" I don't know, but I did!  We went to see "Hope Springs" and it was OK.  It had a great ending.
Farewell breakfast at Breadwinner's where I look like death.

Can't wait until next time!  Maybe we will go to another fancy city next time.  Denver???

Bennettisms

Bennett is so funny.  I know all parents say that about their kids, but mine is hilarious.  He says really contradictory statements all the time about what he is feeling but doesn't want to feel that way.

Our favorite of his "Mommy (or Daddy), I'm sleepy, but I'm not." or

"I did want to eat, but I didn't."

I find myself saying these statements about things I feel or do that I wish I didn't feel or didn't do.

Such as:

"I'm hungry, but I'm not"

Bennett said this the other night:

"Daddy, what do you want for lunch tonight?"

Bennett wanted a pillow that Neil's arm was resting on and he said this:

"Daddy, move your muscle so I can get this pillow."  (ha! Love that one.)

"My dad has a fat head and really big muscles."

To Gloria, the dog "Come here girl, you are gonna grow up when you get to be my age."

Isaac gave us 2 days off!

One thing I love about Caddo parish is they jump the gun on weather almost every time we MIGHT have some bad weather.  This time is was the threat of Hurricane Isaac dropping 6-10 inches of rain. I do understand that the emergency weather committee is making a decision to keep 50,000 students/staff safe so you will not hear a complaint out of me.  Isaac did leave a lot of flooding in south Louisiana, but it just rained lightly all day here.  Thank you, Caddo parish and Isaac for giving us a 5 day weekend!  It feels like Christmas having these two free days off.  My aunt called to see if we were OK and I said "yes, believe it or not it has rained here before!"  She said they might call us back to work. Noooooooo!

Amy even had a slumber party with us because she was scared to stay home alone with a hurricane looming.  We all got up bright and early and headed to McDonald's.  We all wore pajamas and brought the food home.  Henry ate and entire order of pancakes...3 whole pancakes just for him!  We call him our human garbage disposal.  He eats EVERYTHING like he is starving.

Sweet  H eating his pancakes

We decided that it might be a good idea to get out of our pajamas at noon so we met the Raines family at Chick fil a.  (Yes, we ate out for every meal today).  The boys had fun and once again Henry ate more than Bennett. He killed 3 nuggets, fruit, apple sauce, and cheerios!

Bennett has been wanting to go to Kiddie Mia's for a while now so we headed there after CFA.  He would go to Kiddie Mia's every day if we let him.  He loves that place.  I think I am going to have to have his birthday party there.

Henry wanted in on the action so he rode the tractor and the school bus rides.  He was loving it!
Bennett carried his quarters in his shirt pocket.  He was so proud!
He ran to this and said "CARS, MY FAVORITE!!!"
