Spring Break Staycation

We so enjoyed our spring break!  We loved having Neil home for the whole week. We didn't go on a fancy trip or anything...we were just sort of lazy.  We had a few fun outings and that was about it.  It was nice just being together.  We originally planned to go to Houston for a few days to my cousin's crawfish boil and to take the boys to some Houston attractions, but my doctor said no traveling this late in pregnancy.  I was sad to miss, but probably needed the rest.

Both boys got to spend one-on-one time with Nana and Granddad in Ruston.  We are so glad that our boys get to have special grandparent time.  Although I like having us all together, I know they love being with them.

Here are a few highlights from our week...

Lunch with Merideth and her girls at Dawg House

Bennett found a BIG stick that he was proud of.

While Bennett was in Ruston, Henry played outside a lot!  He loves to be outside.

Bennett got to enjoy the movie, "Mr. Peabody and Sherman" with Sam.  I only fell asleep for 20 minutes of the movie.

Silly Boys!
We had Gloria groomed and they gave her pink toenails and a pink bow!

Bennett did my hair while we waited on the doctor.  He asked if my scarf was a "ninja turtle" scarf!
We met the Richardson crew at Orange Leaf for a fun yogurt date!

We also planned a nice Teacher Appreciation Week for Henry's teachers over spring break.  It was a great week for them.

Henry plays soccer!

Since I've been feeling like Bennett gets to do everything and Henry just gets dragged from activity to activity...I signed Henry up for soccer.  I am so glad I did!  I want him to have his fun too.  We did Soccer Shots which  is a non-competitive way to learn soccer.  They are really patient with the kids and have cute ways of teaching them.  The only issue was the lure of the playground.  For the most part, he did everything he was supposed to do except for when Bennett called him to the playground...he darted!  I was so proud though!  He had lots of cheerleaders...me, Neil, Bennett, and Dad!  Reid is signed up to play too so of course Carolyn was there.

Each child is supposed to stand in their circle...he switched out his circle several times.  Bennett was a great helper!
They got to kick the cones down and he loved it.  Thankfully Bennett would set them for him H to kick. So sweet!

We aren't supposed to use hands, Henry.

They broke out the cute jerseys and gave each child a ball to score goals.

I was shocked that he knew just what to do! big boy!
High 5's and stamps for everyone!

He was really proud of his stamp!

I did it!!!

Way to go, Henry!  You did a great job with your first soccer experience!

Firemen for a Day

Bennett's school has an auction every year to raise money for the school.  I was bidding on several items that I knew we could use.  I ended up winning 4 items!  Neil said that I didn't win...I just paid more than someone else.  Felt like winning to me!  Come to find out...Erinn was bidding on this "Fireman for a Day" trip too!

We were issued a "ride a fire truck" certificate so I scheduled it for Spring Break.  It was a ton of fun, but almost no one even knew we were coming for our ride.  The firemen were so sweet and let the boys (and Neil) do everything they wanted to do.

We arrived and one of the captains said to Bennett "what all do you want to do?"

Bennett said "see the play room, ride a fire truck, and squirt the hose!"

The boys put on their boots and firemen helmets and we toured the place.
love this one!

They loved spraying the hose

I thought Henry's outfit was so cute with the red, black, and white!  Neil said that is not what firemen wear!

Thankfully the poles had cages around them.  Too bad Henry wanted to open them and slide down every time we walked by one.  Mama was nervous once again.

The firemen pulled a truck around and made the ladder go all the way up...and then one climbed it!

"Hi, fireman!"
Next, we headed down to where all the trucks were.  Neil loved playing with the jaws of life.

Another jaws of life that was apparently very heavy

oh, I love these boys!

Henry is such a big boy!  He wants to do everything like Bennett.

Bennett learned how to spray the water in different streams and got us all wet!  He thought this was hilarious!

Next up, sitting in the firetruck!

BIG mom and the boys
Next, was our ride. They said "who wants to sit in the front seat?"  Bennett said "ME!"  He was THRILLED!  He climbed right up and put on his seat belt.  What a big boy!  He is so brave.

Daddy and Henry all strapped in and ready to go

Thanks for the fun, fireman.

Lastly, we got to slide down the pole.

Neil was a little bummed that he didn't get to slide down the pole from the top.  They told him he could but I guess he didn't want to go all the way back up.  Wonk, wonk.

Our boys had SO MUCH FUN!  I am so glad I splurged on this for them!  It makes me so happy to see them having fun.

Spring Break Park Visit

I been feeling guilty about not having lots of fun things planned for the boys for Spring Break.  We had plans to go to Houston for a couple days, but my doctor said I shouldn't travel this late during pregnancy.  Oh, well I need to rest anyway!

We went to Sonic and picked up milkshakes and then headed to the park.  We've had gorgeous weather for spring break.  We had fun at the park, but I was a nervous wreck the whole time because it was so busy.  I could barely keep my eyes on both of them.  And it is NOT easy going down slides 36 weeks pregnant. :)
