Chick on a Stick

I made probably the cutest easiest Spring dessert tonight. I got the recipe/idea from my friend, Amanda who got it from her friend. She posted about this last year and I couldn't wait to make them for my sweet boy's first Easter party. He has his egg hunt tomorrow at daycare so I wanted him to have something festive to take with him.

They take about 30 mins to set.

To make about 25, you need:

2 large bags of chow mein

1.5 bags baking bark chocolate blocks (milk chocolate) (I used Candyquik because it is easy)

Peeps

1 bag of Robin’s eggs malted milk balls

1 bag of pretzel rods

Melt the chocolate and then pour in some noodles and mix until they are covered, then add some more noodles, and keep mixing, repeat. The chocolate will not cover if you try to dump all the noodles in at once.

Lay the pretzels on wax paper, plop some chocolate covered noodles on in a “nest” and try to flatten out the middle while it is still gooey. If you have a little extra melted chocolate, you can pour that on the nest as extra “glue” to keep it all together. Put the peeps on and the malted milk eggs on while the whole thing is still warm. The egg sticks to the marshmallow on the side of the peep where it was broken away from the other peeps.

I chose blue peeps because what is more realistic than a bluebird sitting in it's nest with eggs?

Palm Sunday

We had such a family-filled Palm Sunday. First, I want to start off by saying how much we love our Sunday School class. We have really gotten involved and have become close to our class. It is coming up on 1 year that we have had this class and Ginny even said we should have a birthday party to celebrate it! Anyway, our teacher is awesome and taught a great lesson about the Passover and God's perfect timing. I can't wait to see what God has in store for us on Easter this Sunday.

We went to the traditional service today because Clara Yates was being baptized. She looked so precious and innocent in her little gown and bonnet. Congrats on your baptism, Clara!

Richard and Janine came over for the baptism. They were so excited to see their boy.

These boys love each other so much!

Here is Bennett waving the palms.

Here he is waving a palm and a cross and I think he is looking up to heaven.

After we went church we headed to Carolyn and Chad's for pizza and cake. Here is Bennett, Emily, and little Isabella.

The cake.

We came home and relaxed for a little bit. I wrote my weeks lesson plans and Bennett napped. Neil had to pack for his first business trip with Twin Cities. We were excited that he was going to the Chesapeake headquarters in Oklahoma City. I think it sounded like a neat place.
After Neil left for his 1 day trip, I made dinner for the girls. Rebecca, Carli, and Amy were all here. I got to use my cute new Summer stuff that Janine gave me for Christmas. I was so glad that Rebecca was here to keep us safe while Neil was out of town. We love you SIL!

Easter Egg Hunt

We had our church Easter egg hunt today. They had it at Centenary College. It was the perfect Spring day for a hunt. They had a bounce house and a big slide. There were crafts and tons of stuff for the kids.

When we arrived, we went straight to see the Easter bunny. Bennett was not too thrilled to see the bunny.

Here are the Demole twins. Aren't they cute!? The Easter Bunny is their big brother.

Bennett was the most excited about getting to pet this puppy. He loved it.

Mommies and babies. Bennett, me, Lindsay, and Caroline.

Here's B in the bounce house. He was just taking it all in.

And let the hunt begin! I was a little worried that he was not going to know what to do because during practice he wasn't really feeling it. HE DID GREAT! He picked up the eggs and put them right in the basket. I was so proud. My mom said we used to want her to hide the eggs about 50 times a day during Easter time. Maybe Bennett will want that, too.

I was glad that Neil was the photographer today. He got some great shots.

I just can't get enough of this face!

I think the photographer was coming out in Neil in this one.

Yay for a family photo!

Here are the posed Easter bunny pictures after the hunt. Mason loved the bunny. Bennett...not so much.

Here is our attempt at a group photo. Here are Jake, Georgia, Bennett, Mason, and Caroline.

After all the kids got up and walked off Bennett just stayed by his basket. What a sweetie!
After the hunt, we met the Montgomery's and Buteau's at Chick-fil-a. Yes, Bennett has his foot propped up like he just put in a hard day at work!

I just have to add that I got his little outfit on sale last year for $13. The shirt underneath was $5 at the Black Friday sale on Remember Nguyen. I just love a deal!

This Week. (This is my 200th post!)

We have had an OK week. I went back to work on Monday after Spring Break. It was tough going back to work after all the fun we had.

We got home on Monday and went for a wagon ride. The weather was perfect.

Tuesday was a different story. The daycare called around 4pm to tell us that Bennett had been fussy all day. He was having a little bit of a "diaper" issue. I got home and he and Neil were laying in the floor. They were all cuddled up. Bennett NEVER wants to cuddle. We know when he doesn't feel well when he will lay his sweet head on my chest. We had his clothes off because he was sweating. This poor little thing has 103 degree fever.

On Wednesday, he was feeling so much better. Nana came over from Ruston to keep him since he had fever the night before. Bennett loves having his Nana with him.

Wednesday night rolled around and Uncle Andrew came over to stay with him. I forgot that Neil had bowling when I scheduled Painting with a Twist. So...Neil called Andrew to see if he could keep his favorite nephew. Andrew said that Bennett was asleep within 10 minutes of us leaving!

Wednesday Night proved to be productive. Look what I painted at Painting with a Twist!

Here we are: Julie, Camila, me, Casey, and Lindsay.

Bennett was up ALL NIGHT on Wednesday. We had no idea what was wrong. We couldn't console him at all. We felt so bad for him. Since Neil's job is a little more flexible than mine, he took him to the doctor Thursday morning and stayed home with him. Come to find out...he had a double ear infection and a sore throat. Poor baby. He is on an antibiotic and it feeling much better. We are so glad. I put in for a sub yesterday so that I could stay home with him today. I just felt like he I needed to be here.

Bennett has been a sweetie today. I wanted to get a couple pictures of him carrying around his little blankie.

How sweet.

We have been practicing hunting for Easter eggs today. It is a little hard because he gets mad when he has to put the egg in the basket. We want to be prepared for tomorrow's Easter egg hunt at church. It all depends on how he is feeling!

Neil's Handy Work

Neil and Bennett stayed home from school and work today because Bennett has an ear infection. Poor little guy. He was feeling a little more like himself so he and Neil headed to Lowes in search of a project. Since our pantry is so deep and you can't see anything in the back; he decided to put in some pull out drawers. I was shocked when I got home to see every single item that is usually in our pantry out on the counters. Anyway, they look fabulous and are so great for keeping the pantry organized. They pull all the way out so that you can see what is in the very back. Way to go Neil! You are so handy!

Spring Break Day 9

The last day of Spring Break 2010. I cannot believe I actually blogged each day this week. I am pretty proud of myself. I am so glad that I am keeping great records of our lives. I want my children to be able to look back and see what we were doing.

We got up this morning and headed to church. I got all dressed and put on my Spring outfit and walked outside and it was snowing! It snowed in Louisiana at the end of March! Crazy! Neil and I were supposed to volunteer in the Coffee Corner at church this morning. This is the committee that we are on to welcome new people. Since Neil was out of town this weekend, I worked it by myself. The only thing I don't like about it is that I had to miss Sunday School. We really love our class and don't like to miss. I had a few people visit me and drink the coffee!

After church, Bennett and I headed to Ruston for Mary Claire Temple's sip and see. Before we headed to the Temples, Rebecca and I got our toes fixed up for Spring.
Mary Claire is the newest addition to Neil's side of the family. They live in Houston and this is the first time most of us met her. She was born on March 1st and is so cute! Virginia (her mommy) graduated from LSU and she had her girl in a little purple smocked dress with LSU socks!

Here are Bennett, Rebecca, and Gigi. (Gigi is Bennett's great-grandmother) She just celebrated her 93rd birthday! Doesn't she look great!!?

Me, Bennett, Janine, and Mary Claire. Bennett was getting a little jealous that his Nana was holding another baby.

Here are Virginia and Mary Claire. Look at all that hair! She has more hair than Bennett and he is 15 months old.

It was a great Spring Break! I could use one once a month!

Spring Break Day 8

We had an absolute lazy day today. Bennett decided to get me back on my work schedule by waking up today before 7 am. Whew...it was tough. I hope it will help me on Monday when I head back to work from Spring Break.

Gammy came over today around 10:30 to take Bennett to the park. They had a blast until noon when they came home with lunch. We had a nice lunch and then took Uncle Andrew his house-warming gift of funfetti cupcakes (his favorite). We got home and B went down for a 3 hour nap. I got a ton of class work done and typed all my lesson plans for this week. That was one productive nap!

I woke him up and headed to Old Navy because Leslie sent me a 30% off coupon. Bennett needed some jeans and shorts. I bought a couple of cardigan sweaters for myself, too. I pretty much wear one every day to work so I thought I should pick up a couple more. After Old Navy, we headed to TJ Maxx and Target. I got the cutest pair of flats at TJ Maxx!

We came home and ate dinner and I took this picture. You know it's good when you have to close your eyes to eat!

If you have ever been to my house, you know that I always have a candy jar with m&m's in it. It is usually filled with whatever season m&m's are out. I got this idea from Nancy. I used to have them in a crystal candy jar until about a month ago when Bennett decided to pull it off the shelf and let it shatter in to a million pieces. (He was not hurt.) It usually isn't within his reach, but someone accidentally left it within his reach. Hmmmmmm. Sometimes I surprise Neil with peanut butter m&m's (not his favorite). Today I finally found an acrylic shatter-proof candy jar. Yay!
